IMA successfully delivered approximately 480 items/523,000FT of over-dimensional/heavy lift cargo to the Shariket Karhaba Koudiet Eddraouch power plant site near Algiers, Algeria. The indivisible, heavy cargo was transported through the port of Annaba, Algeria, necessitating the construction of specially-tailored temporary roads and bridges. The neighbouring Skikda Port was also used to facilitate the delivery, including break bulk cargo. This complex delivery was completed using heavy haul lifting equipment, including hydraulic axles, extendible and semi-hydraulic trailers, both conventional and low-bed trailers, an assortment of cranes, forklift trucks, and container stackers.

The Algerian electricity company Shariket Karhaba Koudiet Eddraouch (owned by Sonelgaz and Sonatrach) awarded the construction contract of the Koudiet Eddraouch combined cycle power plant to GE and its consortium partner, the Spanish engineering firm Iberdrola Ingenieria y Construccion. The plant is located in the El-Tarf province, 700Km east of Algiers, Algeria. The new 1,200MW facility is expected to increase Algeria's current installed generation capacity by approximately 18%. As one of the largest combined-cycle power plants in the region, the project will help meet Algeria's electricity demand, which is reportedly growing at the rate of more than 7% per year. GE supplied the F-class gas turbines for this project from its facilities in Belfort, France.

IMA successfully completed delivery of:

  1. 45 HRSG modules, average specification: 24 x 4 x 4 / 200 MT
  2. Three Gas Turbines, measuring 11 x 5 x 5 / 300 MT
  3. Three Steam Turbines, measuring 10 x 4 x 4 / 285 MT
