IMA was awarded this project, involving the load-in and load-out, transportation, and storage of power plant equipment. This included auxiliary modules, fuel skis, chimney stacks, and bypass stacks. The cargo was transported and received by IMA in its dedicated Jebel Ali, Dubai, facility. The auxiliary modules and fuel skids were loaded and stored in a suitable temperature-controlled environment, using the hydraulic skidding and jacking mechanism. Chimney stacks, beams, and other accessories were also stored inside IMA's warehousing facility, and likewise transported using a skidding method (rails and rollers) as well as forklift trucks of up to 15MT and cranes of up to 250MT. This heavy cargo was later loaded and transported to the East Delta Power Plant project in Egypt by IMA, which chartered ships capable of carrying the loads. Skidding and jacking using rails and rollers were again used for this operation.
IMA successfully completed the transportation and delivery of:
- Nine sets of auxiliary modules, measuring 8 x 3 x 4 M / 65 MT each
- Nine sets of fuel skids, measuring 4 x 3 x 3 M / 25 MT each
- 200 accessories, of which 70% were over-dimensional (up to 5M wide and 5M high)
